Here is a video on the whole procedure that we recommend watching.

First use PEX Prep:

Make sure to rough up the PEX surface with 000 steel wool or red Scotchbrite pads (CAP is version 7447). On the first preparation, you will need to scuff in circles for 4-5 minutes until you have an even satin matte finish without seeing individual scratches with very little reflection. Clean repetitively with isopropyl alcohol >70% and a fresh/clean paper towel. Do not use other rags, microfiber, wipes, or towels.

Please follow these steps when applying a new magnet:

  1. Remove any old magnets (if any), and clean the bed well to remove any glue, use isopropyl alcohol and a fresh paper towel.
  2. Use 220 grit sandpaper to rough up the metal surface uniformly and remove any excess contaminants. If your surface is painted, try to break through the paint layer with the sandpaper at least partially.
  3. Clean with > 90% isopropyl alcohol and a fresh paper towel, and repeat with alcohol and a fresh paper towel a few times until the paper towel comes away clean. Do not use shop rags, wipes, etc. as these will propagate contaminants back to the surface, use only fresh paper towels.
  4. Let the bed completely dry before applying the magnet.
  5. Let 3M cure for a full 72 hours before use.

Great video to watch first:

First use:

Make sure to rough up the PEX surface with 000 steel wool or red Scotchbrite pads (CAP is version 7447). On the first preparation, you will need to scuff in circles for 4-5 minutes until you have an even satin matte finish without seeing individual scratches with very little reflection. Clean repetitively with isopropyl alcohol >70% and a fresh/clean paper towel. Do not use other rags, microfiber, wipes, or towels.

After every print:

Always wait till the printed model is completely cool before flexing off and never flex when hot/warm. Never rip or pull off print; always FLEX it off carefully when cool.

After removing parts always prepare the PEX for the next print by using either 000 steel wool or a red Scotchbrite (CAP is version 7447) pad for about 10 seconds, then clean with 90% or higher IPA and fresh paper towels a few times to remove any halos of filament. Do not use other rags, microfiber, wipes, or towels.

If you are ever testing a new filament

We always suggest that when changing filaments or colors, playing with settings, or unsure, do a small cube test print in the far corner of your build surface. If it comes off easily once cooled you are probably good to go when printing larger parts. If it bonds too well, play with your settings, and or use a glue stick when in doubt (a glue stick is unnecessary for PLA). PETG and some other filaments sometimes need a glue stick.

Always read your filament spool for good practice

Your hot end temperatures should be set within the range printed on the side spool of filament, and the first 3 layers should be toward the lower temperature range to avoid damaging the PEX. For example, If the nozzle / hotend range is 200-230, start with 215 or lower and adjust as needed for your first layer.

For Bed temp stick with the Wham Bam recommended temps.

Much better than glass

I purchased this to complete my conversion to Wham Bam Pex sheets. I now have them on my two Bambu printers and two Rat Rigs. I follow the temperature suggestions and have great success.

First layers have never been better!

I replaced a glass Creality CR6-MAX build plate with one of these, drilled some holes in it to be able to access the bed screws, popped some silicone spacers in for the cheap plastic stock ones, leveled it, and never looked back. I'm experiencing grade-A prints for the first time ever and I couldn't be more pleased!

Fantastic PEX!

Easy to install and works fantastic! I should have switched to PEX flex plate system long ago...
