This is an excellent tool for draining the resin from the vat. When I'm done printing, I pour the resin back into the bottle like I normally do, then place the vat on the holder and let the remainder drip into the bottle below on the stand. Cleans the vat so much better, less resin to deal with before I start to spray and wipe the vat clean. Thanks.
I had a print failure today and this was the perfect sheet to remove everthing after a cleaning exposure. The spatula caught the edge of the cured sheet and pulled it up without damaging the fep. This tool paid for itself with this print failure removal without damaging the fep. thanks!
Wham Bam's drip makes emptying the vat a breeze. Same for drying it after IPA rinse. Two things I'd submit for improvement : notches to hold the FUN funnel in place, and a softer/silicone cap on top to better protect the film in case it touches it.
This has made a big difference. I don’t have to worry about the overspray and it does come off fairly easy. I just get a vacuum and it just sucks it right up. There’s a lot of pieces and I don’t think I will use all of them, but they are nice to have just in case I love the color orange the one thing about using all those little pieces they get in the way when it’s trying to recognize the snapshot. I don’t think there’s a way that it can just recognize the item you’re trying to get a snapshot of.
Extremely difficult to remove the build platen because of magnetic forces. I have asked Wham Bam for help but no solutions forthcoming.
Hello Herman,
This is Peter, founder of Wham Bam Systems.
Sorry for your disappointment and issues.
I see my technical support person Oscar had been communicating with you and asked you a question to better help you, but did not receive an answer.
Let me try to help you with your issue.
Magnetic Forces
If your forces are too great when trying to remove the magnet there are a few possible reasons and solutions.
Our XTR Magnets are very strong intentionally to resist the suction forces caused by the machine.
Magnets are very effective in forces perpendicular to the surface but not in peel or sheer, buy flexing the Flexi Plate up in one corner you can relieve the magnetic attraction and release the plate.
Most likely:
When you are printing a full bed plate or very large print, the part will not allow the plate to flex and thus it is very difficult to remove.
Questions:
Does this hard force happen when printing smaller parts?
Are you removing the full build head after a print to remove the Flexi Plate and Part?
Solutions:
1. Remove the full build head and place on the table and try to flex the tab of the Flexi Plate up, this should help to relieve the tension and release the magnetic grip.
2. If your Part is very large - consider printing on supports rather than flat on base, the supports will allow a flexible area under the part to give the Flexi Plate more flex and be much easier to remove
3. Ensure that there is no resin between the Magnet and the Flexi Plate, clean well after prints, and reassemble only when dry.
If you can give me a bit more information I can help you to get the most out of this machine
Thank you!
my best,
Peter
nearly had my build plate crash thru my vat since it was not specified that I needed to add a spacer to the Z-stop to keep the system from crashing even when properly zero'd
Hello Matt,
I am sorry for your frustrations.
However, before installing any upgrade to your machine you need to read the product literature.
On the product page of our website under installation there is a full video showing installation and discussing the Z-stop spacer and even telling you to print this and install it before you install our kit.
Video here: https://youtu.be/JrIeuAgX7vI
On our Technical Support Page you can download full installation Instructions: https://www.whambamsystems.com/pages/fbsr-kits-support-page
You purchased and XTR and these are the download instructions that give all clear steps: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0016/6179/6450/files/FBS_Resin_XTR_instructions12.pdf?v=1698365290
Our Kits also ship with printed instructions.
We basically tell about the spacer in many places and videos.
Thanks for your understanding!
The installation process for this is easy except for the adjustment for the printer which the link should be updated for that. As for actually using it it's great. Just flex it around a bit and some stuff just falls off or you can slide it off. After scuffing the surface as the instructions say I have had no issues with print adhesion. I definitely advise using this over the regular build plate and having to scrape it off and having things go flying sometimes. I can use the soft plastic scraper to remove the prints that don't want to just fall off.
Highly recommend this for the elegoo saturn 4 ultra 16k. I just wish it had a kit with everything to make it easy instead of separate build plate. Also the link for the script needed for adjustment for this needs updated. But for actual use after installing it I've had no issues from it. This has made removing things from the build plate so much easier that it's definitely worth the cost in my eyes.
These tools made emptying my vat and cleaning it so much easier and neater!!!
Guess I should have looked more closely at the listing cause I was expecting it to have an embossed surface to imprint a carbon fiber pattern on the undersides of prints. At least it fits my Core One well enough but still.. kind of overpriced for what's effectively a single sided smooth PEI plate. Really just looks like it was printed to look like carbon fiber. Live and learn I guess.
Hello Anonymously,
Very sorry for your disappointment.
I want to help you to understand what you purchased and what we promise for this plate.
It is not an effect sheet and our website makes that clear.
If you want the artificial carbon fiber ‘effect’ there are many cheap PEO covered plates out there that leave the imprint on the bottom of your part- which are made mainly only for low temp filaments like PLA and wear our easily.
Our sheet is true carbon fiber sheets, meaning a matrix of carbon fiber fabric weave impregnated with a specialized epoxy resin.
The outer layer is a very minimal amount of epoxy which the parts bond and it has a very smooth surface.
The reason to buy our Authentic Carbon Fiber is for its amazing resistance to heat and materials which normally destroy other plates such as PETG, PC, PCTG, ABS, TPU, ASA…
Our Plate is a high performance plate for high performance filaments.
It leaves a smooth texture bottom surface.
I hope this make sense and you find the right use for it!
Great piece of kit. Easy to use and easy to clean. Makes my resin cleanup that much easier.
To be honest, I was excited to get these but I find myself not using them. The orange color is too bright and I don't see my acrylic on the Matt so I'm using eufy's Matt more often.
I was so impressed with the carbon fiber plate on my Bambu Lab X1C that I purchased one for the H2C and couldn’t be happier.
This is the only plate I’ve experienced that adheres to every kind of part without adhesives!
The wham bam plate and magnet are very good quality and strong, but present some drawbacks. They take up a lot of volume in your resin vat, so you have to refill more frequently. They are another few surfaces that need to be cleaned every cycle. And pulling the plate of the magnet tends to "spring" and launch bits of resin all over your room. If your prints are too small and don't pop off the plate, it's more difficult to hold onto when scraping the prints off. It’s tricky to line the plate up with the magnet for new prints, and the plate doesn't always sit flat against the magnet, leading to adherence issues & print failures the next cycle. So, consider the draw backs before buying.
For the items I 3D print, I wouldn't use anything else. It gives all my models clean smooth glossy finishes as I do not scuff up the front as recommended. Will definitely be buying more. Thanks Wham Bam!
I have been using the Wham Bam pex plate on the X1C for years and never used another plate. I have never had to use glue or anything for bed adhesion. When I got the H2D I knew I wanted the pex plate for it as well. The only gripe I have with it is that it doesn't work with PETG. I've always printed PETG on the old one without issues. I tried it on the H2D and almost ruined the build plate trying to remove the part. To be fair Wham Bam warns you not to print PETG on it. I'm disappointed that it doesn't work with PETG like the one for the X1C does, but it's still the best build plate for everything else in my opinion
I really enjoy the Wham Bam products. This plate is a game changer. This is the second one I’ve purchased. Thank you and I strongly recommend it.
These spring steel plates are easy to use and prints are sticking very well to the build surface.
